Profit taking activities recorded in DANGCEM (-4.17%), amongst 15 others resulted in the decline of the All Share Index and Market Capitalization by -1.16% respectively. The Index contracted by 626.14 basis points to close at 53,124.63 while Market Capitalization dipped by ₦341.09 million to close at ₦28.94 trillion from ₦29.28 trillion previously. Year-to-Date return currently stands at +3.66%.
Market activities also closed on a mixed note as the total volume of shares traded appreciated by 101.08% to close at 202.85 million units, while value of shares traded dipped by 52.72% to ₦2.05 billion in 3,071 deals. TRANSCORP led the volume chart, representing 30.31% of the total volume of transactions while GTCO led the value chart with 14.18% of the total value of shares traded.
Sectoral performance was bullish today as the NGX Banking (0.27%), Consumer Goods (1.50%), and Insurance (0.46%) sectors all returned positive. Only the NGX Industrial Goods (-2.18%) sector lost while the Oil & Gas sector closed flat.
Market breadth closed on a positive note as gainers outweighed loosers. PZ (+9.62%) topped the fifteen (15) others on the gainer’s table, while CHAMS (-8%) led eight (8) others on the laggard's log. Seventy-seven (77) stocks remained unchanged.
