Market activities as at 24-09-2021
Despite the bearish sentiment on the floor of the exchange for three out of the five trading days this week due to selling pressures in ZENITH (-1.19%), GTCO (-0.84%) and TOTAL (-3.61%), the All share index closed up by 0.05% week to date at 38,962.28bps. Consequently, Year to date market return dipped by 3.25%. Sectoral performance under our coverage this week returned on a negative note. The NGX Banking and Consumer Goods sector dipped by -0.40% and -0.04% respectively due to selling pressures in ZENITH (-1.19%), GTCO (-0.84%), HONYFLOUR (-5.07%), and UNILEVER (-2.22%) w/w. The NGX Insurance, Oil & Gas,and Industrial Goods sector returned +1.75%, +1.36% and +0.20% respectively due to the AIICO (+1.09%), CONOIL (+13.71%), WAPCO (+4.13%) The total volume and value of shares traded this week advanced by 50.71% and 29.48% respectively with a total of 1.29 billion units valued at ₦13.92 billion in 16,745 deals as against 856 million of shares valued at ₦10.75 billion in 15,663 deals the previous week. The three most traded stocks by volume for the week were FBNH (496.32 million units), UBA (77.31 million units), and GTCO (53.33 million units), while FBNH (₦3.72 billion), MTNN (₦1.89 billion) and GTCO (₦1.46 billion) were the three most traded stocks by value. PHARMADEKO (+29.17%) led the 38 gainers while SCOA (-18.81%) led the 22 loosers for the week.
