Market activities as at 24-06-2021
Price gains recorded in BUACEMENT (+2.14%), GTCO (+1.58%), and NB (+1.10%) reversed the previous day's loss as the All-share index advanced by +0.40% to close at 37,954.35 bps. Year to date the market returned -5.75%. Sectoral performance strengthened as the NSE Industrial Goods (+0.88%), Banking (+0.61%), Oil & Gas (+0.33%), and Consumer Goods (+0.20%) sectors returned positive for the day due to price gains in BUACEMENT (+2.14%), GTCO (+1.58%), OANDO (+3.45%) and NB (+1.10%). On the flip side, only the NSE Insurance (-0.30%) sector dipped due to the price declines recorded primarily in AIICO (-7.41%). The total volume of shares traded declined by -19.65% while total value of shares trades advanced by +14.17%. A total of 167 million units of shares valued at N1.83 billion were traded in 3,256 deals. ZENITH (13.89 mn units), SOVRENINS (12.75 mn units) and UBA (11.76 mn units) emerged the top three most traded stocks for the day while ZENITH (N330 mn), STANBIC (N235 mn) and GTCO (N198 mn) led by value traded. Notably, today on the floor of the exchange the full suspension of Guaranty Trust Bank Plc was lifted. Subsequently, Guaranty Trust Bank Plc (GUARANTY) was delisted from the Daily Official List of the Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX) In consequence, the listing of the Holding Company, Guaranty Trust Holding Company Plc (GTCO) took effect today. The new company, Guaranty Trust Holding Company (GTCO), simultaneously alloted the same 29,431,179,224 ordinary shares of 50 kobo each to the former shareholders of GTBank in accordance with their shareholdings in the bank. PORTPAINT & MBENEFIT(+10%) led the 20 gainers for the day while JULI (-9.56%) led the 14 losers for the day.
